It is very difficult to cure this disorder completely but can be minimize or neutralize its effects by the use of an antacid tablet,capsul or the syrup.The most common and essily available antacid is pantoprazole.It is also known as Protonix.Commonly it is found in 20mg or 40mg in different names like Pantop,pentocid,Pantium and so on.It may also be used intravenously as inj. Pantocid.
Some information on pantoprazole:
Pantoprazol is in a group of drugs called proton pump inhibitors. It decreases the amount of acid produced in the stomach.
Pantoprazole is used to treat erosive esophagitis (damage to the esophagus from stomach acid), and other conditions involving excess stomach acid such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.
Pantoprazole is not for immediate relief of heartburn symptoms.
Pantoprazole may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.
